Arnon Grunberg

Thank you!

Thank you all for coming

Last night went to Barnes & Noble on 6th Avenue to hear a reading of the wife of my friend Blake: Constanza Jaramillo-Cathcart.
She read a story from the anthology Fifteen Candles. It was long ago that I went to a reading without have to read myself and I enjoyed the reading and Constanza’s story.
I was once again slightly surprised that the authors who were reading last night thanked the audience in an almost theatrical way. Speaking about cultural differences – this is for me very American.
And there is good reason to be American when it comes to be grateful for people willing to listen to you or at least willing to feign that they are listening to you.
The editor of Fifteen Candles went so far as to tell the audience: “Thank you for supporting the book.”

Well, maybe selling books has become something like fighting malaria.
So thank you for visiting this site on this hot summer day.
Thank you for supporting my work.
Thank you for buying my books, if you haven’t bought my books yet please do so in the near future. I’m willing to sign my books, and I’m willing to sign other items as well.
Thank you for your comments, thanking you for making this all possible. There is the Global War on Terror, but there is also a thing called Global Fight for Selling More of My Books.
Thank you all for joining this fight.
