Side remarks by a drôle de revolution – NYT:

‘Walking near the Kremlin in downtown Moscow on Saturday morning, Nina L. Khrushcheva encountered a wedding party gathered outside the historic National Hotel.
When she asked about continuing with the celebration amid a national crisis, one guest responded, “We are not going to cancel it for no reason,” said Ms. Khrushcheva, an expert on international relations and a descendant of the former Soviet ruler Nikita Khrushchev.

Prigozhin, the pugnacious head of the Wagner mercenary group, seized control of a key military headquarters in the southwestern Russian city of Rostov-on-Don and began dispatching convoys of troops and armored vehicles toward the capital. President Vladimir V. Putin continued to work in the Kremlin, his spokesman, Dmitri S. Peskov, told reporters.’

In September in Odessa the guests at a wedding party told me: ‘we cannot postpoine life indefinitely.’

When World War I started Kafka famously wrote in his diary: ‘Germany has declared war on Russia. Went swimming in the afternoon.’

Well, to honor Kafka, and just to be on the safe side this afternoon I went for a swim with my son.
