International Female Mud Wrestling for Peace

November 3, 2007

The charming Belgian city of Kortrijk will host Arnon Grunberg’s International Female Mud Wrestling for Peace.
Women from various religious backgrounds will compete in mud wrestling matches.
The winner has a final match with Miss Peace, who will have to prove herself this time so we can celebrate her victory, at least temporarily.
The event is also a tribute to the late Andy Kaufman, women’s wrestling champion of the world.
Profits will be donated to a cause that fights for a dialogue: Stichting ZinZien.

Tickets will be sold from 16.30h at the venue.

A disc with a short movie was delivered to Arnon Grunberg. It shows a guy who expresses his anger about Grunberg and his mud wrestling event. This person seems to have met him once, because he refers to something mysterious where Grunberg chickened out.
Anyhow, it is clear we all can be glad that we aren't in Grunberg's shoes.
He didn't wish to comment on the threat, as he was busy with the preparations of his journey to Afghanistan. If he reacts, may it be a reaction with a wish for peace and understanding, as it can turn out pretty nasty when this guy will travel to Kortrijk on November 3rd.

Lucky for Arnon they won't be wrestling in the same weight category.

Boxing clinic

Coen,
That's it. Arnon was asked to be guest speaker at a masterclass writing. In March 2007 he took everyone to boxing school Bep Kneppers where Henk gave a hardcore training. Arnon was ill that day so he didn't join the participants.
They seemed to like each other, but I didn't know what happened between the two since March.

I will try to have a look in Kortrijk (hope I can buy a ticket on the spot). Indeed there could be a pronunciation contest between Arnon and this character. In the old days, we all loved ‘Holland’ pronunciation “Mot j’ un pils in ju gezicht, man?!”. ‘Ghent’ is also one of my favourites.

Biting and scratching is not allowed. Referee Ron Lander will see to it.
Women who show that behaviour will be disqualified.

Now I understand why Henk the lion has no more hair, a twisted nose and his arms are full of scratches: he has met his final destiny, the cobra Arnon !
I think I will make a pre-emptive evasive action in Kortrijk and disappear into oblivion. I do not want to end Resting In Peace, not in Kortrijk though.
