The bus to Lviv leaves Chisinau at 18:35. According to schedule the bus will arrive in Lviv at 9:35 in the morning.
On Thursday afternoon the bus was glowing in the sun on a beautiful but cold spring day.
It took us about five hours to reach the border with Ukraine.
After we filled out several forms all passengers had to leave the bus with their luggage.
A lethargic Ukrainian immigration officer stared at me for several minutes. Then he grabbed my passport and he flipped the pages with a smirk on his face.
When he was done with my passport he gave a speech about soccer, in Russian or Ukrainian. I was able to tell that it was a speech about soccer because I heard the names of several Dutch soccer clubs.
Finally he was done with his monologue and he informed in heavily accented English: "Who won the Dutch championship this year?"
Thank god I was able to answer this question. Leisurely he walked to the next traveler.
In the front of the bus a girl with long hair attracted my attention. Two hours before Lviv she started combing her hair and she didn’t stop combing until we arrived at our final destination.
I was willing to bet a fortune that this girl was a working girl, but at the bus station in Lviv a young man was waiting for her.
The young man appeared to be her brother or her boyfriend.
