Passable

Snobbery

Tonight I had dinner in Ciano, which used to be Beppe, with a friend from Hungary.
The food was moderately good, but the service was less than passable.
The maître d’ had told my friend from Hungary: “Wait outside.” Twice we got the check without having asked for it.
I was forced to ask the waiter: “Do you have any specials?” He answered: "Oh yes, we do."
As if we were not good enough to hear the specials.
Snobbery is a terrible disease in the restaurant business.
