“Excuse me,” I asked. “Where is the ‘galerie’?” I was in hotel 10 in Montreal for a literary festival looking for the room named ‘galerie’ where according to the program my event would take place.
“You are looking for the ghetto?” a woman working for the festival replied.
I had worked hard to come across differently, but apparently I looked like a man who was desperately in need of the ghetto.
