Philipp Bovermann writes in the Süddeutsche: ‘Barbarism has two faces in the current media landscape. Both can currently be observed simultaneously. The first darkness reigns in Iran. There is virtually no internet in the country, for anyone, except for a few pro-government channels.’
Bovermann adds: ‘Particularly cynical is the fact that the regime-loyal Iranian channels still operating online are sharing images from Minneapolis with striking frequency. There, the other face of contemporary media terror can be seen, also with an unprecedented clarity and starkness. It is not a media blackout, but rather an overload.’
The ayatollahs want their people to look at ICE. Your would-be liberators are no better than we are.
Bovermann: ‘A hybrid war against its own population is unfolding. Reality is approaching the ICE videos, in which America looks like a war zone.’
A war zone there, a war zone here.
Look for the better war zone.
