Goal

Decision

Amos Harel in Haaretz: ‘Donald Trump has still not signaled clearly his intentions regarding a possible renewal of the war with Iran.’

And: ‘The one that is acting as if some decision has indeed been taken is Israel. Both the government and the military are hinting, in statements and actions, that they are getting ready for renewed U.S. strikes on Iran.’

As well: ‘According to [Maj. Gen. (res.) Tamir] Hayman, Israel's political goal was to topple the regime in Tehran, while the military's stated goal was to erode its capabilities.’

Iran’s military capabilities have not been eroded. The regime has not been toppled, quite the opposite: ‘Hayman further argues that Mojtaba Khamenei is even more extreme than his father and is not bound by the latter's religious decree prohibiting the development of nuclear weapons.’

The only question is: when will Iran get the bomb? And will the bomb promote peace?
