Together with the German-Austrian (or Austrian-German or Austrian) author Eva Menasse (a lovely woman and a fine author) I was invited at the Free University of Berlin to talk about well, my work and literature in general.
Perhaps it was the wine or the Sekt I drank Sunday night at restaurant Horváth but I felt miserable and the longer the conversation lasted the more miserable I felt. I did my best to be as comprehensible as possible, but I could not suppress the thought that I don’t want to reincarnate as an author -- if I have to reincarnate as a human being let me become an investment banker, a plumber or an employee at a furniture store.
