Zvi Bar’el in Haaretz: ‘One issue is whether the agreement [between Hamas and Israel] will be implemented concurrently with the collection of Hamas' weapons, or whether the Israeli withdrawal will begin only after the weapons have been surrendered. Even then, the precise meaning of "disarmament" or "weapons dismantlement" in this context remains to be clarified.’
And: ‘Now, for the first time, Hamas is placing its weapons on the negotiating table as a bargaining chip in talks that will determine not only the future of Gaza but also the group's own future.’
Also: ‘Paradoxically, in both Gaza and Lebanon, Iran's future standing will depend less on its own ability to shape events and more on how Israel implements the agreements reached, and, above all, on how Trump manages the process.’ Israel is bombing Gaza, in hopes of sabotaging any agreement.
And Trump? He wants some nice resorts on Gaza Beach.
