Courteous

Different

Tonight (May 4) it was the Remembrance of the Dead; let’s say the Dutch version of Memorial Day.
The mayor the city of Hilversum had asked me to give a speech for the occasion.
After the speech and the laying of several wreaths, I was hungry and with two friends I went to an Argentinian steakhouse.
On the way to the steakhouse a woman approached me. “The last time I saw you,” she said, “was in 2009. You’d organized an event for two Ukrainian women who were looking for a Dutch husband.”
“Yes,” I said.
“This was very different,” she continued. “But also good.”
“Thanks,” I said.
The steakhouse was empty but the waiter was extremely courteous.
