Arnon Grunberg

Eggs

Destination

An acquaintance convinced me to travel to Red Hook for dinner. He basically refused to come to Manhattan. I called him a Manhattan-snob i.e. somebody who believes that the other boroughs are better than Manhattan, but he insisted. He said: “I promise you, there won’t be any kale cocktails.”
We had dinner at The Good Fork. The steak and eggs, Korean style were excellent, the garden was romantic, the waitress a bit grumpy, but what one calls grumpiness is in the eye of another person authentic charm.
My acquaintance said: “Red Hook has become a destination.”
