A discussion in De Balie about World War II, remembrance, how to commemorate the war i.e. the Holocaust and how not to.

Joep Leersen, professor European studies, made a case for World War II as a main ingredient of the Dutch national identity. Of course there are not too many ingredients for Dutch national identity. Don't mention Van Gogh.
Then he said: "Your mother came to my classes."
Did my mother have a double life? Or did he mistake her for another mother? He said: "Give my regards to your mother."
I said: "She passed away. But I can try anyhow."
