Quite a few hotels are closed in January in Taormina, but Hotel Villa Paradiso was open. I booked a room with a terrace, you never know, wintertime in Taormina can be balmy, The room turned out to be small, but the terrace was spacious.
For some reasons the hotel had not closed the glass roof of the terrace, or had not anticipated any rain, whatever, after dinner the terrace was covered with water.
We used most of the towels to ged rid of the water, so I went down to the frontdesk and I asked: "Could you send somebody up with towels, you know the terrace is flooded. You didn't close the roof."
"Tomorrow," the frontdesk manager said. "For tonight we are done. Tomorrow everything will be fine."
