Four French women in their forties were drinking champagne at the bar of Balthazar.
After a while two of them left. The other two continued drinking, a bald barkeeper spoke about the weather and football.
Perhaps inspired by the French women, a rather young couple ordered a bottle of champagne and a salad. An awkward combination, but why not. They didn't seem very happy, but the barkeeper tried to cheer them up. "Let's do it," he said, "let's do it."
