Dinner and drinks with Marc, who is going to direct a movie based on one of my novels, his screenwriter (New Zealand) and his cameraman (Turkey).
"Where are you staying?" I asked.
"A hotel in Long Island City," Marc said.
"So, that's where the afterparty takes place," I said.
It was a sincere evening, by all means.
