According to an article by Maik Baumgärtner, Matthias Gebauer and Wolf Wiedmann-Schmidt in der Spiegel German police and military are not (yet) infiltrated by rightwing networks, there is no shadow army, but after an investigation that lasted two years, Der Spiegel uses the word ‘alarming.’ There is much more to worry about than just incidental, individual cases.
In some cases the members of the police and the armed forces in Germany, who were investigated, are willing to use violence as a means to an end.
No, Weimar is far away. But this article makes clear that even in German the institutions that are meant to defend liberal democracy are infiltrated by those who would like to end liberal democracy once and for all.
