Over dinner a good friend said: ‘I knew how to be young.’
‘That’s a beautiful sentence.’
‘You can have it,’ she said. ‘It would be my honor.’
And she ordered some oysters.
On the way home I realized that she meant to say that she still knows how to be young. Eternal youth was just a state of mind.
