Knowledge

Past

Today, I went to the University of Amsterdam to search in my own archive for correspondence with NRC journalist and editor Joyce Roodnat.
When I was done, it felt as I had stepped in my own past and the past as is well-known is a swamp, an archivist asked me, 'what do you know about this book?' He showed me a book, titled 'The Polis-Jewish kitchen in 69 recipes'.
'Well,"I said, 'this is a book by a character from one of my novels, actually Phantom Pain.'
'How many copies are there of this book?' the archivist asked.
'To the best of my knowledge just one,' I answered.
