In de laatste, onlangs verschenen editie van het cultuurblad Lettre International leest u de Duitse vertaling van Arnon Grunbergs essay over herinneringscultuur en slachtofferidentiteit. Het stuk, dat eerder al in NRC verscheen, is vertaald door Thomas Stegers.
“The empathy that is supposed to be conveyed by exaggerated courtesy in practice assumes that our fellow human beings are endlessly fragile. It fits within a larger development: the calling of Western man is to be a patient and, once he has discovered the benefits, to remain one forever.”
In the latest issue of the cultural magazine Lettre International, you will find the German translation of Arnon Grunberg’s essay on remembrance culture and survivor identity. The piece, which was previously published in the Dutch newspaper NRC, was translated by Thomas Stegers.
