Exception

Panel

Tonight I moderated a panel on the Netherlands and New York or perhaps on the Netherlands and the USA, or maybe even on immigration and coming home – I’m not sure.
All of the panelists were born in the Netherlands and all of them had moved to the USA. One of them was holder of a US passport.
All of them felt at home in New York, but at the same time all of them identified in one way or the other with the Netherlands.
None of them had any relationship with or any feeling for Europe, but for one exception.
This saddened me a bit.
