My assistant in New York, a lovely, young lady, urged me to see Alejandro González Iñárritu’s movie “Biutiful”.
I wasn’t as taken with this movie as she was, there’s only so much suffering the audience can endure, but Javier Bardem’s performance makes up for the lack of a coherent story.
The exploited suffer, but in this movie the exploiter has empathy for his victims and he dies of cancer, unlike his Chinese counterpart of course.
