Shortly before I left Warsaw for Wroclaw I met the Polish journalist, activist and feminist Kazimiera Szczuka.
She said: “If you make fun of the pope in Poland you are dead, symbolically spoken.” And she added: “The culture in Poland is in deep crisis.”
