The Dutch ambassador in Warsaw escorted me to my room, and said: “Many celebrities slept on this bed. Among them the former Dutch prime minister Ruud Lubbers. I won’t mention the others.” The bed didn’t reek of Mr. Lubbers but was nevertheless a comfortable and warm bed.
