Last night, I saw the opera “Selma Jezková”,
based on Lars von Trier’s film “Dancer in the Dark”.
My friend was slightly disappointed, but I enjoyed the Brechtian aspects of the production. The people are easily manipulated, justice is elusive and money is a dark angle.
My friend said: “It’s strange, you are waiting for a woman to be hanged on stage.”

Waiting for the plot often equals waiting for capital punishment.
