Back in Freiburg im Breisgau – about thirty miles east of Freiburg is Hinterzarten, a village where my mother used to spend her summer holidays.
I would visit my mother in her B&B in Hinterzarten, sometimes accompanied by a girlfriend.
This evening I was in Freiburg for a reading, but I thought of my mother and her small room in the B&B. She did a lot of hiking in the German mountains.
