This evening I had a conversation with a friend about the bitcoin.
According to an article by Joshua Davis in the October 10, 2011 issue of The New Yorker the bitcoin was worth approximately 5 US dollars in September 2011. Presently the bitcoin is trading above 50 US dollars.
I will start accepting this currency in the near future.
(The relative success of the bitcoin proves that money first and foremost depends on trust. Neither gold nor bonds are needed to back up a currency.)
