Lie

Country

Jacob Frey, mayor of Minneapolis, writes in the NYT: ‘On Wednesday, when I learned that a Minneapolis resident had been shot and killed by an Immigration and Customs Enforcement agent, I didn’t feel the shock in my gut that I felt over five years ago. Nothing about this was shocking. The chaos that ICE and the Trump administration have brought to Minneapolis made this tragedy sadly predictable.’

Frey adds: ‘By defending the lie about this clearly avoidable shooting in Minneapolis and refusing to allow Minnesota officials to investigate the crime, the administration is sending a message to the entire country: If you show up for your immigrant neighbors (…) your life will be at risk.’

And: ‘The best way to convince the country that welcoming and lifting up immigrants is good for its communities is by proving it in our own cities.’

Beautiful, cities against the federal government. Autonomous zones?
