Conduct

Actions

Yaniv Kubovich writes in Haaretz: ‘The army had said his [Captain Tomer Eiges’] motives were neither ideological nor political, and that he had concealed his actions despite being aware of the potential damage they could cause to state security.’

What were his motives? Money? In another article Eiges was called a ‘software genius’.

Kubovich adds: ‘On the night of May 16, 2021, Eiges was found in serious condition at the detention facility and died shortly after in the hospital to which he was evacuated. According to a report in Israel Hayom, Eiges collapsed twice before he died.’

According to his parents, ‘negligent conduct by several officials, alongside inadequate medical monitoring, led to his death.’

The former chief of staff Aviv Kohavi announced in 2023 that Eiges would be recognized as a ‘fallen soldier’.

Fallen for what exactly? Secrecy? Incapable or indifferent prison guards? The almighty state?
