In Saturday’s Herald Tribune, Elisabetta Povoledo writes about the pope’s visit to Assisi: ‘He joked with a Franciscan friars. He made a group of cloistered nuns giggle like young girls. “I am sad when I don’t see nuns smile with joy, when they smile with the smile of a flight attendant, but not with joy,” the pope said.’

Interestingly enough the Pope believes that flight attendants never smile with joy.
His belief may be based on empirical evidence.
