Zvi Bar’el in Haaretz: ‘For the foreign ministers of Saudi Arabia, Turkey, Egypt and Pakistan, who held an emergency meeting on Sunday in Islamabad, Pakistan's capital, there is nothing new under the sun.’

And: ‘But whether or not they succeed in bringing an end to the fighting, these countries have another goal. They want to build a framework for military cooperation.’

And: ‘It is worth noting which countries are not participating: The United Arab Emirates, Kuwait, Bahrain and Oman. These four members of the Gulf Cooperation Council were attacked by Iran but were either not invited to the conference or turned down an invitation.’

Bar’el concludes: ‘The partnership taking shape between Saudi Arabia, Turkey, Egypt and Pakistan is an indication of a new strategic relationship.’

Israel is deemed untrustworthy. Not because of war crimes in Gaza, but because the Iran war is bad for business.

New world order. New friends. New enemies.
