Arnon Grunberg

In an article in today’s Neue Zürcher Zeitung about secret clubs in London I stumbled upon this quote: “It’s a hopeless endeavor to attract people to a theatre unless they can be first brought to believe that they will never get in.”
This is not only true for theatres, but also for love affairs, upscale restaurants, certain massage parlors, action houses and in the not too distant future bookstores.
And marriage. I will only propose when I’m sure that she will say: “Thanks, but no thanks.”
