As well: ‘In November, the president wondered aloud why Mr. Vance was not more subservient, like the officials who work for President Xi Jinping of China.’

Also: ‘Recently, Mr. Vance has faced criticism among conservatives for his support for the Iran war.’

Mr. Vance is not subservient enough for Trump’s taste. A little extra servility always helps.
