Revolution?

According to A.O. Scott “Mad Max; Fury Road” is about revolution.

(Read the review here.)

Yesterday I went to see the movie with a Swiss friend, 3-D of course, as was recommended.

If Mad Max is about revolution then it’s above all about the fact that the revolution is just another spectacle.

What’s truly revolutionary about Mad Max is that it makes the point that even in the society of the spectacle many of us will die of boredom, well many, the spectators.
But there’s a great scene in which a character is munching on an insect.
And then after an hour or so there’s the titillating sensation of slowly dying of boredom, in 3-D.

It’s sort of cultural criticism after all. You want revolution? You will die of boredom.
