Knowing

Arguments

Tonight I saw in an art house more or less by coincidence the movie "The Daughter" by Simon Stone, based on the play "The Wild Duck" by Ibsen. I'm an Ibsen fan, the 19th century has much to offer when it comes to insights in human psychology.
The movie, more than the play -- if my memory is not fooling me -- asks the question: are we better off knowing the truth, or are we better off not knowing it? Simon Stone answers: better off not knowing it.
And he has a few convincing arguments.
