Dinner with my publisher, two translators, a Swedish author and a cultural attaché -- we discussed the situation in Poland. The assessment was bleak. No improvement to be seen in the new future. Th rightwing parties and the church had formed an unholy but extremely strong alliance.
It was a beautiful evening but we skipped the cocktail party.
