I went to Socrates Sculpture Park in Long Island City to see the Argentinian movie "La Ciénaga" (The Swamp), directed by Lucrecia Martel.
The Socrates Sculpture Park was already worth the trip, and the movie was a strange mix of sultriness, ennui and unconscious longing. One expects the greatest catastrophe, but the catastrophes remain relatively innocent.
Lucrecia Martel said: “Romantic comedies are my enemy," and after having seen “La Ciénaga" I understand why: human desire is neither romantic nor funny.
