My editor at publishing house Nijgh & van Ditmar, Caroline, urged me to bring a small bottle of vodka this afternoon.
To be fair - I’d told her that even though I was visiting another editor I would be able to be see her briefly, but only if she was sober.
You never know with these editors.
So, I brought a bottle of vodka from Belarus, we drank a bit of the Belarusian vodka, then I left and for lunch I ate a herring with pickles and onions.
