Alison Flood in The Guardian on controversy and Handke:

"On Tuesday, Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan slammed Handke on television, saying “the Nobel has no value … granting the Nobel literature prize on Human Rights Day to a figure who denies the genocide in Bosnia and Herzegovina is nothing less than rewarding human rights violations.” Turkey’s ambassador to Sweden, Hakki Emre Yunt, also announced he would not attend the ceremony."

As I wrote before Mr. Handke's opinions deserve scrutiny, but the Nobel prize is not a prize for impeccable opinions.
And if we disagree with this, we should be open about this and state: good literature is only good literature when the author is a person who treats his children and partner well and has only impeccable opinions.

A loss, probably.

We should be able to say, I detest his opinions, but I recognize the value op his work, see also under: Louis-Ferdinand Céline.

And Mr. Erdogan is not really the right person to take place on the moral high horse, but well, the moral high horse remains a favorite tourist destination.
