Peaceful

Pool

This morning I asked the front desk for a late checkout.
The lady answered: “That’s not a problem, but if you want to leave after 2 PM it can get rowdy. We expect protests in front of the hotel.” “Thanks for letting me know,” I said.
I decided to stay another night.
Even though the protest this afternoon in front of city hall was peaceful, thousand or two thousand people I would say, the atmosphere was friendly, the mayor of Savannah, Mr. Johnson, ordered a curfew, starting at 8:30 P.M. (There was no protest whatsoever in front of the hotel. And because everything was rather peaceful here the curfew had escaped me.)
When I walked this evening into Hitch next to my hotel the barkeeper said: “No man, we are closed, there is a curfew.” The hotel had some apples.
Three guests were enjoying themselves till about 10 PM in the swimming pool.
No pedestrians outside as far as I can see, every five minutes or so a car.
I’m happy I asked for a room with a balcony.
Meanwhile, not far from my apartment in NYC the looting takes place on 5th Avenue, according to Danny Gold on Twitter.
It’s time to see if there’s still some coffee in the lobby.
Tomorrow inshallah Jacksonville, another city under curfew.
