Dream

Play

A strange dream in Lugano. I was acting in ‘Professor Bernhardi’ by Arthur Schnitzler.
Shortly before the premiere I realized that I had never read the play. I asked one of the other actors if I could go on stage with the text in my hand. The actor whispered: ‘No, impossible.’
Then I said: ‘I thought that we were doing improvisations.’ The actor said: ‘No, Professor Bernhardi.’
I went on stage, I said: ‘The professor is a silent man.’
At that moment I woke up. Lightning.
