Tonight, in Tblisi there was a demonstration in favor of the EU, basically a demonstration to show that the citizens of Georgia want to join the EU.
I saw students, elderly, people with baby's - a bit dangerous in the crowd, but alas, this is Georgia - and middle-aged men.
According to my friend, there was some pathetic speeches, the anthem of Europe was played ( Ludwig van Beethoven fourth movement of his Ninth Symphony, with the lyrics of Schiller). The sound was awful, but the attempt was laudable.
Around ten we left the demonstration.
My friend said: 'The speeches will go on till 1 and the demonstration will turn into a dance party.'
Europe was far away. Suddenly I remembered what a friend said a couple of days ago: 'In order to see beauty you need distance.'
