On Friday night I played poker with a couple of officers in Camp Taji. I followed the same strategy as in Brooklyn where I used to play poker every month.
No matter how shitty my cards are I raise the bet.
In Brooklyn this turned out to be a losing but entertaining strategy.
In Iraq for once it was a winning strategy.
But it’s not because of a few dollars that Friday night was my first really happy evening in Iraq.
