Is Philip Roth a nice person? We discussed this question at length during a dinner for the participants of Pordenonelegge, a literary festival in Pordenone.
There were only a few authors present during dinner and the food was heavy but good. I was seated next to Michael Cunningham who was charming and who was also able to answer the question if Philip Roth was actually a nice person with some expertise.
Opposite of him sat an Italian author (at least I think he was an author) who devoured every word Cunningham said.
