The movie “Revolutionary Road” based on a novel by Richard Yates was better than I expected.
About a week ago a female bartender from Eastern Europe said to me: “I don’t know why Kate Winslet is making such a drama in that movie.” Well, marriage and middle class morality can be a prison and being locked up in a prison can be a drama.
Neither marriage nor middle class morality have changed a lot since the fifties. (Cigarettes are the exception.) This is not to say that I oppose middle class morality.
Mow your lawn, work hard and don’t hit your wife.
These are my ideals as well.
