"Ryrie's diagnosis—Hitler as the Antichrist, the culture of remembrance as a different form of religion—is not new; his book is primarily a synthesis of what has been written on this subject in recent decades, and since this is a side project for Ryrie, he should be forgiven for not delving too deeply into the subject. Moreover, the issues he raises remain significant and deserve reflection, if only because virtually every social debate and nearly every cultural conflict is directly or indirectly connected to this problem: how sustainable are the ideals that were formulated—or rather, reformulated—after the carnage of the last century?"

Arnon wrote a lengthy essay for de Volkskrant about the book The Age of Hitler and How We Will Survive It by British historian Alec Ryrie, covering the culture of remembrance, Western universalism, the glorification of victimhood, and the Führer as a Christian. The piece appeared in de Volkskrant on September 26 and can be read online here (in Dutch).
