Jörg Häntzschel writes in the Süddeutsche: ‘In his coat, Bovino looks like a Nazi officer. Other countries also had similar coats, but Bovino's overall outfit completes the Nazi look: a closely shaved haircut, as if he had gone to the barber with a photo of Ernst Röhm; a black shirt with insignia on the collar tips; and perhaps the most extravagant accessory: a "Sam Browne" belt, held in place by a leather strap worn diagonally across the shoulder, an accessory from a historical officer uniform.’
Gregory Bovino is the Chief of the U.S. Border Patrol; Kristi Noem, Secretary of Homeland Security, invented the title ‘Commander Operation at Large’ for him.
Süddeutsche: ‘Since then, he has frequently worn the coat. And since then, ICE and Border Patrol have been attracting attention with increasingly cruel and violent actions.’
Old fascism may be burnt out, but apparently the coats are still sexy.
