Paolo Sorrentino is one of my heroes. His movie “Le conseguenze dell’amore” is one of my favorite movies.
And “Il Divo” about the Italian prime minsier Andreotti may be even better.
His last highly praised – and rightly so – movie “La Grande Belezza” is about the unavoidability of decadence and the attractiveness of some part of the Roman-Catholic church. Yes, we recognize the echo’s of Fellini but “La Grande Belezza” is darker. Melancholia, death and nymphets, these are the building blocks of our world.
