A Friday night with Chabad i.e. the Lubavitscher community in Santa Fe.
We discussed crypto-judaism and the Messiah.
The daughters of the rabbi (five) engaged me in a conversation about books and Amsterdam.
And a lovely, elderly woman told me that she was not allowed to talk about her work, but that she used to do stand-up comedy in New York.
The rabbi said: "There is no anti-Semitism in New Mexico, except for Jewish anti-Semitism." He meant Jews who are critical of Israel.
A lovely evening altogether.
