Serious

Questions

This morning, it was a brisk autumn day, I went to my lawyer to sign the paperwork to become a US citizen.
The questions were as hilarious as when I applied for my green card, actually I believe they were mainly the same, but becoming a citizen is something serious. Being stateless is serious, being a refugee is serious, and for that reason citizenship is serious.
So I read the questions carefully and with trembling hands - I had just had krav maga - I managed to answer the question "are you a habitual drunkard?" with "no."
Then I took the subway home for a short siesta.
